East Africa Crisis – Mothering Sunday 26th March

We have all been shocked to see the horrific images of starving children and adults in East Africa, and as a community we would like to do some small part to help. The collection at the Mothering Sunday service on 26th March will be sent to the Disasters Emergency Committee East Africa Crisis. If you would like to contribute, but are not able to come to the service, you can put your donation in the small black box, on the back of the left hand pew just inside the door, any time during the week. The box will be emptied at least once per day and added to the Mothering Sunday collection.

Everybody is very welcome to the service at 9.30 am followed by coffee and biscuits.

Thank you.

Jane Nichols

Voneus Superfast Broadband – Update

Alan Seldon of Voneus is now managing the Kingscote project and will update us regularly on progress.

To date, the situation is:

The A Side fibre backhaul will be coming from the village of Amberley. The two original sites identified are no longer viable due to permission being withdrawn. Voneus has now identified another suitable site and has an appointment this Friday to meet with the owners, show them the equipment and hopefully gain their permission to install it.

Two main sites needed as hop points have been identified; one has agreed and an installation date is imminent; the other has been sent the outline statement of works and a response to agreement/installation is awaited.  Once these points are installed, two “hop points” need to be identified within the village.  A test signal will then be sent out to potential hop points to test their viability.

This means there will be an installation delay due to both the permissions being withdrawn, and the fact that BT has not yet installed the fibre requested.

Bagpath will be treated as a separate project but work on it will begin before the Kingscote project is completed.

Alan Seldon is happy to answer questions at any time.  Details below:

Golden Valley Classic MCC March Hare

Please be aware, that on Sunday 5th March 2017, the Golden Valley Classic Motorcycle Club, intends to hold an event for Solo and Combination motorcycles that will pass through your Parish.  This is NOT a speed event, only a portion of a single lap route linking various sections on private land.  Your indulgence and co-operation in this matter would be much appreciated.

It is intended that the event will be run in the same direction to last year using a virtually identical route but including Chavenage estate. Last year we were able to raise £400 for SW and WMidland Air Ambulances with your co-operation. This year our oldest bike is circa 1935.
