Ash Dieback Work – Bagpath 12-16 June

Letter to Kingscote Parish Council re Ash Dieback work on Bagpath Common / Scrubbetts Lane 12th – 16th June

Good afternoon, Mr. Hale,

Thank you for contacting us regarding the forthcoming road closure of Scrubbetts Lane for essential felling of diseased Ash trees.

We are aware that road closure cause disruption to both residents and general road users. For Ash Dieback felling we restrict working times (09.30 to 15.30) to avoid peak traffic times. In the case of Scubbetts Lane it will be the residents in the main that may experience some inconvenience. Where possible we will try to accommodate residents with access requests, as and when it is safe to do so, however they may experience some delays. Of course, we would advise leaving Scrubbetts Lane prior to 09:30, however we also appreciate that this is not always possible. In the instance that a resident should need to gain access through the Lane we advise speaking with the gateman at either end of the closure, whichever is appropriate. They will relay to the Team on site to ask them when it will be clear to pass. If a resident has a specific medical appointment for example, or require careers / nursers to attend them, if we can have the details of whom they are and where they will be attending this would be most helpful. We can let our gateman know in advance. Emergency services access is provided during the closures, and our teams are fully trained and competent to deal with such matters.

Our team are most helpful and will accommodate requirements when it is safe to do so. They will be using smaller equipment for the work required rather than their standard equipment purely because the larger equipment would prohibit any passage of traffic. They are very aware and experienced of what will be required on a Lane such as Scrubbetts Lane. We would ask that residents, deliveries etc try to keep their movements along the Lane to a minimum during the period from 12 -16th June 2023 and are patient with the Team. Each time they are asked to stop work for safe passage of traffic will impact on the amount of work that can be completed. As you know this area was highlighted for work sometime ago so we certainly would like to achieve the best results possible in the week allocated. Working together will result in the completion of the essential work being a success.

During the week of 12th – 16th June 2023 we have been advised that the Team plan to start from the north/top of the Lane and moving south. Our Team will be on site from around 08:30 on Monday 12th June should clarification be required. With regards to having a contact number we would ask you to speak to the gateman directly who will contact the Supervisor on site or call 0800 0514514 asking to speak to Sara Noons or Laura Dennis.

Thank you in advance for helping us ensure safe and successful felling is completed and for your continued patience in this matter.

Kind regards

Laura
