Sunday 16th is Harvest Festival at Kingscote Church.
We have moved the time to 11.00 am and this is an opportunity for all the family to celebrate all the good things we have in life. There will be songs and activities included! If you are coming, please bring some dried or tinned goods which will go to Charity afterwards.
Following the service there is a Bring and Share lunch in the Village Hall to which all are welcome.
Please pass the word!! Many thanks, Mike

Sherry Tasting – Friday 18th November

Sherry glasses + lots of tapasWe have a new date for the postponed sherry tasting….and I’m giving you lots of notice so you can put it in your diaries!
It’s Friday November 18th from 7pm, finishing around 9pm. There will be six sherries to taste ranging from very dry to sweet PXs…and the claim is there’s one for every course.  Please let me know if you will be attending.
There will be appropriate tapas to go with them and Robin Scott-Martin, who is doing the tasting, will give some background and will take orders if wanted.
It will cost you a mere £5 which is excellent value for money.
Hope you’ll be able to make it and do bring friends!

Cat Found!

Dear all,
Just to let you know we got a phone call from Ozleworth estate this morning. After 2 weeks he turned up there!
I have collected him this morning and he is fine – just a bit thin – which isn’t such a bad thing!  Kids are at school so will be a great surprise when they return this evening.
Thanks for all your help and advice .
All the best

Alex

Lost Chicken

Having been entrusted with looking after my near neighbour’s  6 chicken for a few days….one escaped yesterday evening.

It is light brown in colour and answers to the name of Buff Orpington.

I would be grateful for news of any sitings, preferably before the neighbour returns……

Regards

Drone Usage in Kingscote

Following a number of complaints from villagers about a drone flying fairly low and close to people and property in the village, please see the information below:

Small unmanned aircraft (irrespective of their mass) that are being used for surveillance purposes are subject to tighter restrictions with regard to the minimum distances that you can fly near people or properties that are not under your control. If you wish to fly within these minima, permission is required from the CAA before operations are commenced.

CAA permission is also required for all flights that are being conducted for aerial work (i.e. in very simple terms, you are getting paid for doing it).

The ‘remote pilot’ has the responsibility for satisfying him/herself that the flight can be conducted safely.

The aircraft must not be flown:

  • over or within 150 metres of any congested area
  • over or within 150 metres of an organised open-air assembly of more than 1,000 persons;
  • within 50 metres of any vessel, vehicle or structure which is not under the control of the person in charge of the aircraft
  • within 50 metres of any person except during take-off or landing, the aircraft must not be flown within 30 metres of any person except for the person in charge of the aircraft.

Further details may be found here: http://www.caa.co.uk/unmannedaircraft/
