Announcement of New Vicar Appointment

It is announced on 23 September 2018 that the Reverend Caroline Bland is, subject to the completion of all legal procedures, appointed vicar of the Benefice of Nailsworth,  including the parishes of Horsley, and Newington Bagpath with Kingscote. She has been previously a curate at Holy Trinity Church, Longlevens, Gloucester.

She writes:

A few words of introduction and to say how delighted I am to be coming to the Nailsworth Benefice as your vicar.  I am looking forward to getting to know you and the community I will serve.

I was ordained at Gloucester Cathedral in 2015 and am currently serving as a fourth year curate at Holy Trinity, Longlevens.  I have a background in industry and education and was a teacher at St Dominic’s Primary school, Inchbrook for eight years, prior to studying for a ministerial degree and ordination.  I am married to Martin and we have 3 grown up sons.   Martin and I enjoy music, playing musical instruments and singing.

With a heart for mission and discipleship, I have a passion to reach out into the community to show others the love of God.  I am excited about the future as we seek God’s direction and journey together.

 With God’s blessing
Rev’d Caroline Bland.

It is hoped that she will be able to attend the Carol Service here in December and take up office in the New Year.  We welcome her warmly to our Church and Community.

Regular Dogsitter Required

Lily, a Briard who lives at Matara in Kingscote, is in need of some company.  She doesn’t like being left alone for more than a couple of hours and as she’s quite elderly, doesn’t need much walking.

If you’re interested in keeping her company for a small fee, please contact me.

Barn Storage Required

Does anyone have some barn space where we can house a 1952 clinker built Merlin Rocket dingy? Her length is 15ft x 7ft wide, however, come the winter months Roger would quite like to do some work on her so would need space to be able to walk around.
Many thanks.

Sunday 20th May: Defib Fundraising & Royal Wedding Event

The forecast is looking good so far for Sunday so just a quick reminder to get in touch if you are planning on attending the Defib Fundraising/Royal Wedding Event.

We will be selling the only Royal Wedding beer using barley grown on the Royal Farms Windsor.  The beer uses a special blend of British hops called Invicta in recognition of Prince Harry’s role in creating the Invictus Games, with some great American West Coast hops and champagne yeast as a finishing touch.

There will also be cream teas on sale as well as wine and prosecco.

Please don’t forget to bring a plate to share and also remember that you can enter into our royal wedding bake off – lemon & elderflower cake being the order of the day.

If for whatever reason you can’t make it then you can always buy some raffle tickets in advance – we’ve got some great prizes, details of which are attached.

For raffle tickets or to confirm your attendance please contact Seema Bowers, tel: 07791 360162 or email: seema.bowers@yahoo.co.uk.
