June News Sheet

During the Coronavirus epidemic, this news sheet replaces the Forerunner magazine and recognises the reduced community activity and information need. Further changes are of course likely.

A collection of experiences – book material needed

A collection of experiences of Kingscote and Bagpath inhabitants during the COVID outbreak – book material needed PLEASE READ ON…

These times have had a profound impact on all of our lives, yet being the small yet diverse community that we are, each of us will have had a very different experience.

This is where the idea came regarding putting together a collection of stories/pictures/accounts of residents wishing to share their thoughts, journeys and experiences. Apart from something that we can keep and look back on, it would give us something to share collectively as a community and perhaps to create a better understanding of each other’s situations.
It could be material of any format/length/style. Ideas might include personal accounts, thoughts and opinions, quotes, diary entries, anecdotes, poems, children’s pictures and thank you messages to frontline workers, VE day celebrations, photos of any of the above or just appreciating the beauty of the surroundings whilst we are forced to slow down.  It could include experiences at work, at home or experiences of your wider family and friends here in the UK or abroad and how you have kept in touch with them over the duration. Really anything goes to give a real sense of the current climate.

Drafted is an image of what the front cover might look like. Any comments/suggestions would be wonderful. Please do send material/suggestions (along with your name, age, occupation and contact details or, if you prefer, this can be left anonymous) to seema.bowers@yahoo.co.uk. If you do send images/photos please send by email preferably in JPEG format.

We hope you agree that this is an opportunity to produce something unique and beneficial in these uncertain times and would be grateful if you could send your book material by mid August, if possible, in order that it can be collated.

We look forward to hearing from you in due course, should this be of interest to you or any of your family members.

Take care and stay well, with all best wishes,
Seema
