The Project Manager has today advised that the main cabinet serving the Kingscote build is now live.

This is good news as it means residents in the village should be able to place an order for service by the middle of next week. If they have registered on the website at gigaclear.com, they will be notified that their connection is ready for service, via an email.

I would also just draw your attention to the Community Hub scheme which is where Gigaclear connect a community project that is in the build, free of charge. All the information on this scheme is available here: https://www.gigaclear.com/community-hub

401495 Hazelcote Lane Horsley To Kingscote

This Road will be closed (see attached) from the 14^th June 2021 to 25^th June 2021, to allow contractors, working on behalf of BT Openreach, carry out the installation of new ducts.

Due to the impact of Coronavirus over 5.5 million people are now claiming Universal Credit. Many of them are new to claiming Universal Credit having been negatively impacted by Coronavirus. 

The government is encouraging Parish Councils to share the following guide on their website and/or social media to help local people navigate claiming Universal Credit:

On Tuesday 23 March at noon there will be a minute’s silence and the church bells in Kingscote will toll. This is to mark one year on from the first Covid19 lockdown and provides a chance to reflect on the changes that have affected us all over the past 12 months, to remember those who have died, and to look forward in hopefulness.   

We will gather at the war memorial in Kingscote by 11.50am for some short prayers before the tolling of the bells.

This National Reflection Day is organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care.  People are also being encouraged to light up their doorsteps/ windows with candles/ lanterns at 8pm on the evening of 23rd March.

February and March is a good time of year to pick up litter from the roadside verges and hedges of the parish before the vegetation starts to grow and the Parish Council is therefore inviting volunteers to help with litter picking over the next few weeks. We have negotiated the donation of five sets of litter picking equipment from Ubico, the company that runs recycling in Gloucestershire. Due to the Covid regulations we cannot organise communal litter picking sessions, so volunteers will need to litter pick alone or with their household members. Litter picking will be limited to the lanes in the parish, NOT the main roads. We have divided the parish into the following nine sections:

1. Hunter’s Hall to Windy Corner
2. A4135 Junction to Windy Corner past Barnhill Farm
3. Windy Corner to Scrubbetts Farm
4. Vipers Lane: past Newington Bagpath Church through farm to Newington Barn
5. Windmill Lane: post box to T-junction at end of lane
6. Hunter’s Hall to village hall
7. Village hall to trig point via Lower Hazlecote
8. Trig point to Tipputs Inn 
9. Trig point to A46 via Upper Hazlecote

If you wish to volunteer, please note the following:

– You should take all reasonable safety precautions and always be aware of road traffic
– Ideally wear some high visibility clothing so that you are easily visible to road users
– Dress in weather-appropriate clothing (hats, gloves, warm coat, etc)
– Do not pick up anything dangerous or hazardous (broken glass, needles, dog mess, etc)
– Contact Sebastian Cooper via email or telephone 01453 860811 to let him know which of the above sections you wish to cover and arrange collection of your litter picking equipment.
