REMINDER: Sherry Tasting – Friday 18th November

Sherry glasses + lots of tapasWe have a new date for the postponed sherry tasting….and I’m giving you lots of notice so you can put it in your diaries!
It’s Friday November 18th from 7pm, finishing around 9pm. There will be six sherries to taste ranging from very dry to sweet PXs…and the claim is there’s one for every course.  Please let me know if you will be attending.
There will be appropriate tapas to go with them and Robin Scott-Martin, who is doing the tasting, will give some background and will take orders if wanted.
It will cost you a mere £5 which is excellent value for money.
Hope you’ll be able to make it and do bring friends!

Elections: Please register to vote now and avoid a visit

Please register to vote now and avoid a visit from a canvasser

Release date: 1 November

Over 85% of residents in the Cotswold district have responded to the Council’s annual canvass to ensure the electoral register is up to date.

The Council sent out electoral registration forms to households at the end of August, and reminders in September.  We are now employing canvassers to visit properties which have not yet returned their form.

To avoid a visit from one of our canvassers, please return your form to us now.  If you are not on the electoral register, you will not be able to vote and may be refused credit when shopping or conducting other transactions.

Residents who haven’t received a form should contact the Elections Team immediately on 01285 623002.

Sarah Dalby, the Electoral Services Manager for CDC, says:

“Being on the register means you can vote and will also help with your credit rating.  Please check the details printed on the inside of the electoral registration form. If the information is correct, all you need to do is confirm your registration either online, by text, Freephone or post.

“If you need to make changes, you can register online or by post.”

For more information or for help or advice, contact us on 01285 623002

Road Safety Community Hub

I am pleased to inform you that  a new one stop shop for reporting road safety concerns in Gloucestershire is launching this week.

The Road Safety Community Hub is being launched by Gloucestershire Road Safety Partnership, made up of Gloucestershire County Council, Gloucestershire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office and Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service.

The new hub launches today Friday 28th October and will be the main point of contact for residents to report any concerns they have about road safety in their local area. Reports can be made via the Road Safety Partnership’s website.

This one central hub will bring together the expertise of the police, engineers and the road safety experts to provide a better, more efficient way of resolving the problems encountered in our towns and villages. It will bring a more consistent approach and because people will know where to go with their concerns, their ideas or for advice, it will make decision making more accountable.

A good number of Parishes have already engaged with the hub through the Road Safety Website ; http://roadsafety-gloucestershire.org.uk/communityhub/ as well as via email to roadsafetyhub@glosfire.gov.uk

Please do not hesitate to contact the hub with your concerns.

On behalf of the hub I welcome the opportunity to work with you and your community to improve road safety in the future.

Fastershire Survey

Tell us what you think about broadband in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire!

A survey looking at the availability of broadband in the two counties is being undertaken by independent researchers at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU). The survey is part of the ‘Evaluation of the impact of superfast fibre broadband in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire’ and is due to be published in 2017.

The responses will directly feed into to the Fastershire project and the results will also help demonstrate the level of demand in communities that are yet to benefit from the Fastershire rollout and help raise their profile for better broadband with potential suppliers.

The survey will be live until the end of November and takes around 5 minutes to complete, with questions relating to how residents and businesses currently use broadband and internet services and where better broadband services are required.

To complete the survey, please visit, www.broadband-feedback.com.
